Desjardins Bherer, founded by René Desjardins in 1986, is now managed by Marc Bherer, who worked closely with Mr. Desjardins for over 15 years.
President and Senior Designer
Marc Bherer is known for his versatility and how comfortably he moves between his creative and management roles. Marc Bherer has coordinated many major projects, consumed by the same driving passion from the gestation of an idea to its completion in built form. He is a member of the Association professionnelle des designers d’intérieur du Québec (APDIQ) and Interior Designers of Canada (IDC).
Desjardins Bherer is dedicated to high-end residential projects and also takes on certain select commercial projects and multi-residential projects. Over the years the firm has acquired a solid reputation, and has become one of the major professional firms in the field of interior design.
At Desjardins Bherer, the creative process begins with a full understanding of the context of the firm’s intervention, as well as the client’s requirements. The work progresses in the interest of integrating the concerns of the various stakeholders and finding realistic solutions, without sacrificing esthetic concerns.
Fervent admirers of the Bauhaus, the professionals at Desjardins Bherer seek to harmonize form and function in their use of space, with a preference for natural materials. Furthermore, the firm’s work has sidestepped the whims of fashion; their projects stand out for their simplicity, longevity and practicality.
Among other things, the firm won the Grand Prix du design in 2013, 2014 and 2015 in the category of
residential spaces over 3,200 sq. ft. Recently, they won interior design awards at the IDA Design Awards in 2017 and 2018, were finalists at the Sub-Zero Wolf Kitchen Design Contest 2017-2018 and were awarded the APDIQ Award of Excellence, Residential - Complete Renovation in 2021. In 2022, Desjardins Bherer was awarded Gold certification at the Grands Prix du Design, Residence / Residential space > 5,400 sq. ft. (> 500 m2) category.
